Amendment to warrant

An amendment to warrant is required when it is proposed to make changes to the design and/or specification for which building warrant was approved. Please note that a new application for warrant rather than an amendment is required if the proposal is to significantly change the development e.g. a new house type.

Applying for an amendment to warrant

Applications can be submitted electronically through the Scottish Government portal

Alternatively, download our  Amendment to Warrant application form 2019 (PDF) [235KB]  - the form includes details of where to send your application.

As well as completing a form, an amendment to warrant application must include the following:

  1. The appropriate fee
  2. Plans and specifications - For paper applications we require two sets of revised plans (highlighting the changes) along with a revised specification.
  3. Certification update - If your Building Warrant included an SER structural certificate, you will require confirmation from the engineer that the certificate still applies.

What happens after submission?

  1. The application will be registered and you will be notified accordingly with the reference number.
  2. The application will be assessed and if required you will be notified of any issues to be resolved.
  3. You will be given the opportunity to resolve the objections.
  4. Once resolved the amendment will be issued together with a revised Construction Compliance & Notification Plan (where appropriate).
  5. You must wait for approval before implementing the changes on site.
