Davie Park in Rattray, Blairgowrie

This park offers a good range of facilities for local people and visitors to the area.

Davie Park, Blairgowrie

Davie Park, which is around 5 hectares in size, is situated in Rattray to the east of Blairgowrie.

Facilities

A recently refurbished children's play area caters for the younger age groups and a multi sports hard surfaced pitch provides for more organised active sports for all ages. There is also an extensive grassed area for organised sports including two full sized grass pitches for football.

The more formal park area leads on along some level, surfaced paths to a wilder area managed for its biodiversity, called 'Loon Braes', where there is a pond which is a popular for bird spotting. Loon Braes leads on to Kirkton Road and to Rattray and so altogether with Davie Park, this provides a useful and pleasant through route between Rattray and the riverside area of Blairgowrie.  A leaflet entitled 'Blairgowrie Paths Network' which gives details of the routes of nearby paths including the lovely River Ericht Path can be downloaded from our Walks and paths to explore pages.

The Park has a parking area off Ashgrove Road beside the Pavilion.

The nearest public toilet facilities are in the Wellmeadow, Blairgowrie which are open all year round. Monday to Saturday: 9 am - 6 pm and Sunday: 10 am - 6 pm.  (24hour access with a RADAR key, for more information, visit the RADAR website).  30p entrance fee.

The Loon Braes Partnership

Since the local community wanted to explore ways that the area around Loon Braes could be improved, staff from Perth and Kinross Council helped support and link local community groups and other agencies, forming the Loon Braes "Parknership".  The Parknership was formed out of many local groups, such as the Tenants & Residents Association, SCYD (Strathmore Centre for Youth Development), Blair in Bloom, the Community Council and many others. Community consultation led to the creation of an action plan which has targeted specific areas over a 6 month, 12 month and 5 year timescale. The Parknership won a Gold in the Council's Securing the Future Communities Awards.

Davie Park is featured on many other websites such as The Blairgowrie and Rattray Hub.
