The Procurement Reform (Scotland) Act 2014 introduces a more formal requirement for organisations which spend public money to gather the views and to involve those affected by procurement work.
Currently there are a number of ways in which we work with those affected by our procurement:
- engagement with end users of the goods, services or buildings we procure
- engagement with businesses, charities and voluntary organisations to understand how the needs of our customers might be met by external providers of goods or services
- engagement with other people working in the public sector who can contribute to how services are shaped.
As part of our ongoing improvement work, we are now engaging with various community groups to gain a better understanding of how our contracts can support delivery of their objectives. This links into our new approach to Community Benefit delivery which will be in place from September 2018.
