Electrical Recycling in Schools

Schools and community groups are invited to host temporary small-electrical recycling collection containers (140 litre pink and grey bins) for one school term, to help divert waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) for recycling.

These temporary small-WEEE collection containers are being offered to schools and community groups to encourage residents to get into the habit of diverting more electrical items away from the general waste bin.

View the  Invitation to host a WEEE Term (PDF) [321KB]  for more information about how to host a WEEE Term, or contact a Waste Minimisation Officer for more information by emailing wasteawareness@pkc.gov.uk or phoning 01738 476476.

Other places to reuse or recycle WEEE

If you are unsure what to do with your old waste electrical and electronic equipment, you can:

  • Check the  Perth & Kinross Charity Shop Map (PDF) [2MB]  for organisations who can reuse your large and small working electrical items locally.
  • Large and small WEEE can be recycled at all 9 Recycling Centres across Perth and Kinross.
  • Small WEEE can be recycled at the Mini WEEE Recycling Points.
  • Large WEEE such as fridges, freezers, washing machines and tumble dryers can be taken to your nearest Recycling Centre or can be collected via the Council's Bulky Uplift Service.
  • Batteries can also be dropped off for recycling at libraries, shops and supermarkets across Perth and Kinross.
  • Please note that battery-operated, single use disposable vapes, (such as Elf Bars) cannot be recycled as Small-WEEE.  The disposable vapes must only be recycled at PKC Recycling Centres, dropped off at the household batteries collection point at the Recycling Centre.
