We have recently updated the process for applying for sheltered housing to make it as easy as possible for people.
Step 1 - Applying
If you would like to apply for Older Persons Housing:
- Please phone us on 01738 476000 (choose Option 3) or contact your local Area Housing Office
- A member of staff will discuss the best housing solution for you
- There's no need to fill in a form
- We will aim to process your application within 15 days
- View video tours of our sheltered housing complexes.
- We can also arrange for you to visit one of our units for a tour and a cuppa
Step 2 - Assessment
- You will be awarded a priority for Older Persons' housing (extreme, high, medium, low, no priority) based on your current circumstances
- Sometimes a home visit is required where a member of staff from the Older Persons' Housing Team will visit you
- You can have family members or friends with you during the visit
Step 3 - Your application
- If you are not awarded a priority for housing you can meet with a member of staff again to discuss further options
- If you are awarded a priority, then the Housing Options team will produce a completed application form for you - which will need to be signed
- Your information will be added to the waiting list and reviewed every three months to check if your circumstances have changed
- You now wait until we get in touch to advise when a property becomes available for you
