What is the additional cost of replenishing salt supplies mid-Winter?

Salt replenishment mid-season attracts a £2 per tonne surcharge over the summer rate. The salt is procured via Scotland Excel.

What are the Gritting Routes?

Gritting routes can be found on on our website.

Are there areas where more support is needed from farmers to help clear roads?

It is difficult to say where we need additional coverage but we would be happy to discuss with anyone interested in assisting to establish if there are areas near them where treatment would fill a gap.

Additionally, we have invested in two tractor ploughs and a trailing gritter as a trial for the residents in Glen Quaich - although this is on a gritting route it can often take some time before we get there.

We have not supplied gritter attachments to individual farmers before but have now done so following an approach from the community and will supply salt as required.

We have invested £24,000 in this initiative and will monitor its success over winter.

Can Committee be updated at a future date on any agreed efficiencies, shared use initiatives and cost mitigations resulting from Amey's Trunk Road Contract?

Amey took over contract in mid-August so discussions are at an early stage. The update would include both PKC integration (at Turfhills, Kinross) and with Tayside Contracts at Ruthvenfield.
