Purpose

To update members on progress relating to a dangerous buildings notice served on the former Quality Café and Clachan Bar located at 10-14 South Methven Street, Perth. 

Briefing Information 

As you may be aware, a dangerous buildings notice was served some time ago instructing the demolition of the former Clachan Bar and Quality Café buildings located at 10-14 South Methven Street, Perth. Despite some initial contact with the owners, they have not made any meaningful progress to comply with the notice. 

The decision was made to procure a demolition contractor and a tender was published on the Scotland Excel portal on 23 June inviting contractors to quote for the works. This tender process has now concluded, and a preferred contractor appointed, with works are due to commence on 4 September 2023. The work is expected to take around three months to complete. We anticipate some minor disruption to pedestrians around the site during the works. There may also be some limited disruption to traffic whilst works take place to ensure that services are adequately terminated.
