This briefing note provides an update on how the industrial action by members of Unison in a national dispute over pay will impact schools in Perth and Kinross on Tuesday 22 October. Where information is available for the rest of the week this has also been shared. 

Briefing Information 

Background 

Unison members who work as support staff in schools are taking part in two weeks' of industrial action as part of a national dispute over pay. 

All primary schools were closed on Monday 21 October. Secondary schools apart from St John's Academy (Secondary) and the Community School of Auchterarder were able to open. 

Now staff have returned to school following the October holidays it has been possible to complete Risk Assessments for each setting. 

The following schools will be able to open on Tuesday 22 October or later in the week. Please note the situation remains fluid and some schools may be able to-reopen, or be forced to close depending on staffing numbers throughout the two-week strike period. Parents and carers are advised to visit www.pkc.gov.uk/schoolclosures to ensure they have the most up-to-date position. 

Going forward, we intend to issue daily updates to Elected Members and the public by 1pm each day. 

As of 3.30pm on Monday 21 October, the situation for Tuesday is as follows: 

Fairview School is closed. ISP provision is also closed unless otherwise stated. Connections is closed but Navigate will be open. 

On Tuesday October 22 all secondaries will be open but St John's Academy (Secondary) and Community School of Auchterarder are only open to pupils in S4 and S6. 
 
Crieff High School will be able to offer ISP for senior phase pupils only.  

Breadalbane is able to provide ISP to primary and secondary pupils but ELC is only open to three and four-year-olds.
