Briefing Information
Background
The numbers of flood alerts and flood warnings across Scotland has reduced overnight. The flood alert for Tayside remains in place however the number of flood warnings for Perth and Kinross is now down to three:
Upper Tay
Ballinluig to Logierait
Kenmore
A medium likelihood, low impact Yellow Weather Warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office covering many parts of Scotland including Perth and Kinross from 4pm today until 10am tomorrow (2 January). Icy patches should be expected on untreated surfaces. Snow was forecast for higher ground from 9am today and the focus for Roads Maintenance Partnership staff is on road gritting. Social media messaging will be going out today to advise residents to take care as icy conditions are expected.
There are no plans currently for any Incident Management Team (IMT) meeting today, however senior staff from all services will continue regular dialogue about the situation, and all services remain ready to respond to any disruption through the public holiday period. Additional IMT meetings will be held if and when required.
Flood scheme update
With conditions becoming marginally more settled, it has been agreed that the planned Mince Pie Run on the North Inch can proceed tomorrow, subject to any changes to the weather meantime. RMP crews will arrange to open the relevant gates first thing tomorrow morning.
Further information
We are continuing to monitor the weather forecast and river levels. A further briefing note will be issued if there are any significant changes to the weather/impact forecasts.
