Purpose

This Briefing Note provides an update on the opening of the new Blairgowrie Recreation Centre and arrangements for the transfer of services to the new building.

Details

The new Blairgowrie Recreation Centre has now been handed over to Perth and Kinross Council.

Phase 2 of the project - the demolition of the existing Recreation Centre - will be delayed for six months to ensure facilities remain available for pupils and the wider community if there is any reoccurrence of the issues that have delayed the opening of the pool.

There will be a three-week training and transition period for Live Active Leisure Staff in advance of the centre opening to the public.

Pupils will have access to the dry facilities of the new centre from the start of term. The facility will open to the public on 29 August. Communications around the opening are currently being prepared.

Live Active Leisure will also announce to the public there will be a short closure period during the transition to the new Blairgowrie Recreation Centre.
