Subject: Protests over accommodation for people seeking asylum

Details

Purpose

This Briefing Note provides information on planned protests and counter-protests outside two Perth hotels used to provide accommodation for people seeking asylum

Briefing Information

A protest is planned to take place outside the Queen's and Station Hotels in Perth over their use as accommodation for people seeking asylum on Sunday 16 November.

As with previous protests, people are being asked to meet at the South Inch at 11am before marching to the hotels.

A counter-protest is being organised by Perth Against Racism. They are asking people to meet outside the Station Hotel from 10am.

A multi-agency meeting took place on Friday to discuss preparations for the protest. Community groups have been notified and Police Scotland will have additional resources in place.

Officers will also be on stand-by if required on Saturday.

A walking football match at Scone involving a team made up hotel residents scheduled for Sunday morning has been postponed to prevent the players being targeted as they leave the hotel.
