Purpose
This Briefing Note provides an update on the Council's response to disinformation regarding accommodation for people seeking asylum in Perth and Kinross.
Briefing Information
On Monday, 24 November 2025, posts were made on social media claiming people seeking asylum being provided accommodation in the Station Hotel in Perth are being moved to Leslie Court in Perth.
These claims are untrue.
There is no change to the situation in Perth regarding accommodation for people seeking asylum. There are two hotels currently used for this purpose and we have had no information or indication the Home Office looking for any other accommodation to house multiple people seeking asylum in the area.
Both Kingdom Housing Association, which manages the flats, and the Council have been approached by The Courier for comment on the latest claims.
We will also post on social media correcting the rumours and advising residents not to share misinformation online.
Leslie Court is currently being refurbished with an expected completion date of Summer 2026. The properties have not been allocated to anyone and no tenants have been identified.
Kingdom Housing allocates properties in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council. Any applicants are matched to our homes via the Perth and Kinross common housing register. Applicants are awarded points to make sure homes go to those with the greatest need.
There have been several social media posts regarding numbers of people seeking asylum and accommodation circulated since July. More information on these is available here.
