80th Anniversary of VE Day - 8 and 11 May 2025
To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe, a series of events is planned across Perth and Kinross.
On the morning of 8 May, the VE Day 80 flag will be raised, and wreaths will be placed at the Veterans' Memorial on St John Street, Perth at 9am and at the 51st Highland Division Memorial, North Inch, Perth at 9.30am.
At 9pm that night, a series of VE Day 80 beacons will be lit at seven locations across Perth and Kinross to commemorate the end of the Second World War in Europe. The beacon locations are:
- Balhousie Castle, Perth
- Wellmeadow, Blairgowrie
- Primrose Park, Auchterarder
- MacRosty Park, Crieff
- 14 High Street, Kinross
- Atholl Road, Pitlochry
- Taybridge Drive, Aberfeldy
On Sunday 11 May, there will be a commemorative church service in St John's Kirk, St John's Place, Perth at 11am.
From 10am to 3pm, there will be a display of military vehicles, live music from pipe and brass bands, and other street entertainment, on the streets outside the kirk.

Perth Ford and Classic Car Show - 31 May and 1 June 2025
Vintage Fords and other classic vehicles display - 10am-3pm, Saturday 31 May
Experience a spectacular display of vintage Fords and other classic vehicles in Tay Street Perth. Entry is free.
Visit Morris Leslie's private classic car collection - 10am-3pm, Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June
Explore Morris Leslie's private classic car collection at Perth Airport. Catch a free vintage bus from Mill Street out to the airport to visit the site. Buses start from 9.45am.
Entry fees (all proceeds go to TASH for Ukraine):
- Adults (16+) £10
- Children (5-15) £5
- Under 5s go free
- Family entry (2 adults and up to 3 children) £25
Due to the nature of the premises where the cars are stored it is not possible for wheelchair users or children in buggies to view all of the private collection.
Perthshire Mela - 29 June 2025
On Sunday 29 June 2025 the streets of Perth will once again be filled with colour for our annual celebration of world music, dance and culture. It's a great way to start the summer.

European Pipe Band Championships - 9 August 2025
After making its debut in Perth in 2024, the European Pipe Band Championships return this August.
One of the biggest piping competitions in the world, over 100 pipe bands will take part in the competition. Mark your diaries now and look out for tickets going on sale on 1 April through Perthshire Box Office (opens new window).
City of Perth Salute - 10 August 2025
Our popular free parade and performances by military and civilian bands from across Scotland is back for 2025.
On Sunday 10 August 2025 join the dazzling parade through the city streets towards the North Inch performance arena. Look out for more details coming soon.
Perth Christmas Lights Switch-On - 22 November 2025
Christmas starts in Perth with the must-see Christmas Lights Switch-On. Local and national music acts and other performers take to the stage and streets of Perth city centre to make them sparkle as we enter the Christmas shopping and party season. Look out for more details coming soon.
