Have your say on the refurbishment of your play area
In order to allow us to manage the 147 play areas which we're responsible for to a satisfactory standard, we have a rolling programme of play area improvements underway. Each year we focus on the improvement of approximately six play areas throughout Perth and Kinross which are coming close to the end of their usable life, usually after 15-20 years.
Current play area improvement projects
Throughout our programme of improvements, we work alongside interested communities to create play areas which are best suited to all. If you find that there's interest and enthusiasm in your community for a new or improved play area, we have the tools to support you to do this. This table lists those play areas which are due to be refurbished in the next few years, please contact us if you'd like more information about a specific project.

Langlands Park, Luncarty | Langlands Play Area Sketch Plan (Word doc, 95 KB) Update 1 April 2025. The work on the play area is now complete. We have used a hybrid grass surfacing which combines artificial grass with natural grass. This enables a more durable surface, theoretically! Bear with us as we monitor how well this system works - the play area will be open towards the end of this week as the site has now been adopted by our in house Infrastructure Services team who will maintain and keep the play area safe for everyone for the future. The thermoplastic line markings are complete and the barrier onto the roadway will be installed by the Highways team in the coming weeks. They have a lot of projects on currently so bear with us as this moves up the schedule. Thanks for your patience everyone, we hope you enjoy this little play area and look out for the signs that will be installed, it has the names of all the community that have helped with the process. |
Scotlandwell Play Area | Scotlandwell play area sketch design (Word doc, 71 KB) Works currently on site with our contractor for final stages. Before opening, we need to complete the Register of Play Inspectors safety checks and then handover to our Infrastructure Services. The construction is now complete, we know you are all keen to use this, especially the adults on the zip line!! Please bear with us whilst we get the area approved for handover. We may have to let the grass establish beforehand, but hopefully the turfing on this scheme does not impact on the play area so handover will be soon! Again, thanks for your patience. |
Westfield Common, Rattray | Westfield Common play area sketch design (Word doc, 91 KB) Works currently on site with our contractor, completion March/April 2025. Site construction works are now complete and handover is imminent but will be dependant on grass establishment. This could be 4-6weeks depending on how the grass takes roots, our Infrastructure Services team then decide on the date the site can be opened. |
Greenloaning | Sketch design. (Word doc, 448 KB) Works began on site 17th March 2025 with estimated construction completion 4th April 2025. The site will then be inspected by the Independent play Inspector and then handed over to our Infrastructure Services Team who will determine when the site can be 'open' to the public. |
Braco | Sketch design. (Word doc, 222 KB) We said 10 March for the swing installation initially but this was changed due to delivery of equipment to Greenloaning earlier than expected. Hence Greenloaning has progressed more quickly and the Braco swing will get installed w/c 31st March. We have the same contractors working on both schemes so depending on sub contractors and rubber surfacing install, we should be complete for handover and inspection by the end of the week. |
Jubilee Park, Birnam | We received 68 positive responses to our Jubilee Park consultation (February 2025) which has helped let us know what you'd like to see in the design. Sketch design and budgeting for equipment choice is underway. |
