Waste education and awareness

Education and Awareness activities within communities and school are at the heart of driving a change of attitude toward waste and litter.

A strong organisational focus on waste and recycling education and awareness has resulted in well informed residents across Perth and Kinross. This investment in time and resources is reflected in increased tonneages and improved recycling participation. These important messages should be continually refreshed to meet challenging recycling targets, and divert more waste away from landfill.

Waste awareness - schools and communities

Waste Services can work with your school or community group to focus on environmental concerns around waste, recycling and litter.

Waste Education Boardwalk (WEBWalk)

The WEBWalk, located at Friarton Recycling Centre provides an innovative interpretation centre for school and community groups.

Litter education in schools

Litter education is a vital part of environmental education for children. If young people are taught the facts about litter at an early age, they are more likely to have a responsible attitude into their adult years.

Eco-Schools Scotland

Over 98% of Council schools are part of Eco-Schools Scotland, involving around 750,000 pupils, which makes Eco-Schools an invaluable opportunity to promote enduring mass behavioural change amongst young people.
