Perth and Kinross Council residents are being urged to Show Racism the Red Card this week.
The charity's Wear Red Day takes place on Friday, 17 October and asks people to wear an item of red clothing to signal their opposition to racism.
Wear Red Day first took place in 2014, when 7,000 people took part. Last year's event saw 710,000 registering with Show Racism the Red Card to say they were participating.
Perth and Kinross Council's Equalities Lead Councillor Peter Barrett and depute leaders Councillors John Rebbeck and Ian Massie said Wear Red Day sends an important message that racism and discrimination of any kind has no place in Perth and Kinross.
Councillor Barrett said: "Show Racism the Red Card does amazing work and I am proud that Perth and Kinross Council has such a long-standing relationship with them, which dates back to 2008.
"Perth and Kinross is rightly proud of its status as a Council of Sanctuary and wearing red on Friday is a simple and effective way of showing that we do not believe racism or prejudice has a place in our community."
Councillor Massie, joint Depute Leader of the Council, said: "I'm proud to see Saints in the Community once again standing shoulder to shoulder with Show Racism the Red Card. The campaign sends a powerful message to everyone that racism has no place in our game or our society. As individuals and in our community, we must continue to challenge discrimination wherever it appears and ensure that football remains a force for unity, inclusion and respect."
Fellow Depute Leader Councillor Rebbeck added: "Perth and Kinross Council has the longest-running partnership with Show Racism the Red Card of any local authority of the country.
"Show Racism the Red Card's material has been delivered through the tireless efforts of Saints in the Community to schools, Perth Prison, community groups, football supporters, councillors and more. It is incredibly valuable work and shows our determination to make Perth and Kinross a safe and welcoming place for all."
