Bakers are being asked to rise to the occasion when Cakefest returns as part of Perth's Christmas Lights Switch-on Weekend.
The event will take place in the Civic Hall at Perth and Kinross Council's headquarters at 2 High Street on Sunday 23 November.
The competition runs from midday to 4pm. This year there will be two categories to enter: best traditional Christmas Cake and a freestyle competition where the cake can be any type or design.
The winning baker in each category will receive a £100 Perth Gift Card. Second and third placed bakers will each win a £50 gift card.
The event will also see the return of a centuries-old baking tradition in the Fair City - the Bakers' Parade.
In the 16th century, St Obert was chosen by the bakers as their patron and, on 10 December each year, bakers carrying torches, dancing, piping and drumming would march through the city.
The parade also included a horse wearing a man's shoes and someone wearing "The Devil's Coat".
Despite its popularity, the Church banned the event in 1588.
Perth and Kinross Provost Xander McDade said: "It's great to see Cakefest return and it will be a fantastic way to round off our Christmas celebrations in Perth.
"This year we're running two competitions - best traditional Christmas Cake and a freestyle competition.
"I am sure we will see some amazing entries that really put the icing on our Christmas celebrations this year."
The line-up for Perth's Christmas Lights Switch-on will be revealed next week.
