It is possible to purchase a memorial bench to celebrate and commemorate a friend or family member for placing within a Cemetery, the Crematorium Memorial Gardens or in one of our parks and open spaces, where space is available.
Purchasing a memorial bench
The Council will supply and install memorial benches in parks, countryside areas and cemeteries in response to requests and on receipt of the appropriate payment. The Council has produced policies which explain the approaches taken in parks and open spaces (PDF, 226 KB) and in cemeteries and memorial gardens (PDF, 57 KB). Purchase of a memorial bench covers the life period of the bench only, after this time the bench may be removed. Locations for benches can be requested and the nearest available and appropriate site for your bench will be offered to you. You can specify your memorial message at time of enquiring so that your plaque can be inscribed and fixed to your bench for you.

What happens next?
On receipt of your enquiry form, a Council officer will contact you to discuss your request, agree the best location and confirm the style of memorial bench.
If you wish to go ahead, you will then receive a written confirmation of all agreed details with a request for payment.
On receipt of your payment, we will order and arrange to install your bench.
Your bench will be available to view and enjoy within 2 months of purchasing.
