Community Justice and Community Safety Partnership

Perth and Kinross Community Justice Partnership and Community Safety Partnership merged in September 2021.  The joining of the two Partnerships, to form the Community Justice and Safety Partnership, was in recognition of the crosscutting nature of the work of both Partnerships.

The Community Justice and Safety Partnership is committed to working with local people to prevent and reduce offending and to support those who have committed offences to integrate into their local community.

For example, where people have been sentenced to a community order with unpaid work, the Partnership looks at new and innovative ways of making sure communities fully benefit from these orders.

For people who are released from prison, the Partnership works with the local community to make sure proper support is in place to help reduce the risk of people committing further offences.

The Community Justice and Safety Partnership is made up of eight statutory partners.  These are:

  • Police Scotland
  • NHS Tayside
  • Perth & Kinross Integration Joint Board
  • Perth & Kinross Council
  • Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service
  • Scottish Fire and Rescue Service
  • Scottish Prison Service
  • Skills Development Scotland

In addition, Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS) are co-opted as a member of the Partnership representing the Third Sector.

Community Justice and Community Safety Partnership Action Delivery Plan

In a departure from the usual approach of creating strategic plans, which tend to be lengthy, the Community Justice and Community Safety Partnership tried a new approach, similar to a plan on a page.  Two illustrations were created by Partnership over two sessions, early 2022.  The sessions were held on Microsoft Teams and illustrations were created by Listen Think Draw during the discussions.

Session one

What's on the horizon for Justice and Safety; Self-identification of Partnership strengths; Self-identification of gaps; Discussion re: priorities and demands 2022-23.

Session two

The Partnership's approach - how we will meet the various priorities and demands.

Following session one, the Partnership were asked to rate the priorities and the scoring was used to identify the Action Delivery Priorities for 2022-23.  The three priorities identified were: Substance Use; Violence Against Women; and Reducing Reoffending.
