A warm vote of thanks to Warm Spaces Volunteers

Throughout the winter season, a network of community-led cosy and secure spaces, known as warm spaces, were available across Perth and Kinross. These warm spaces, supported by around 76 community groups and funding from Perth and Kinross Council, provided invaluable respite during the coldest months of the year.

Amid rising costs of living, these spaces offered residents a chance to gather, enjoy hot food and drinks and engage in a variety of activities. More than just warm spaces, they helped tackle social isolation and offered a warm welcome to all.

Provost of Perth and Kinross, Xander McDade said: "I'm privileged to recognise these remarkable volunteers and extend our heartfelt thank you, on behalf of Perth and Kinross Council, to each and every warm space volunteer, for their unwavering compassion and commitment to their neighbourhoods, supporting others to live healthy lives."

Echoing this sentiment, Councillor John Rebbeck added: "Celebrating the invaluable contributions of our warm spaces volunteers is an honour. Their dedication shines as an example of human kindness, providing vital support to those in their communities struggling with the cost-of-living. A shining example to us all."

At the event, Perth and Kinross Third Sector Interface (TSI) launched their new volunteering hub platform which aims to encourage volunteering in the local community.

In partnership with Perth and Kinross Council, TSI have developed 'Be the Change' a self-service directory of opportunities for community members to promote new volunteering roles within their group or organisation, and for residents to sign up and take part in volunteering activity in their local community.
