Another fantastic weekend in Perth and Kinross's Amazing August is coming up, with Perthshire Pride on the North Inch on Saturday 10 August, and Perth Highland Games and the European Pipe Band Championships on the South Inch the following day, Sunday 11 August.
Both events are likely to attract large numbers of people, and both will also require temporary road closures, and a diversion for the Perth Highland Games and European Pipe Band Championships.
We would therefore like to advise motorists coming to or through Perth over the weekend to be aware of the closures that will be in place and to allow extra time for their journeys:
Saturday 10 August - Perthshire Pride
The Perthshire Pride parade will gather at the Thimblerow car park from 10.30am on Saturday, and is due to depart at 11.00am, with rolling road closures in place on High Street, South Methven Street, North Methven Street, Scott Street and Tay Street on the way to the North Inch. These closures will be lifted as the parade passes, so any delays are expected to be limited.
Sunday 11 August - Perth Highland Games and European Pipe Band Championships
Edinburgh Road in Perth will be closed to all traffic between Marshall Place and South Inch Terrace from 6.30am to 8.30pm on Sunday, with the official diversion route going via Glenearn Road, Priory Place, St Leonard's Bank, Kings Place and Marshall Place.
During the closure, all bus services will be diverted as follows:
- Inbound to Perth - via the diversion noted above, then onto the normal route from Princes Street.
- Outbound from Perth - from Scott Street services will be diverted via Marshall Place, Kings Place, St Leonard's Bank, Priory Place and Glenearn Road, then onto the normal route from Edinburgh Road.
