Perth's Chinese New Year Celebrations

Perth will come alive on Saturday 14 February 2026 as the city celebrates the vibrant arrival of the Year of the Horse with a colourful, family-friendly Chinese New Year celebration.

A spectacular parade, led by a majestic dragon, will bring music, movement and flair to the city centre from 12.30pm. Setting off from the corner of George Street and High Street, the parade will follow a circular route along High Street, King Edward Street, St John's Place and St John Street before returning to its starting point in a vibrant celebration of culture and community.

The parade is the centrepiece of an exciting afternoon programme running from midday to 3.30pm, featuring free activities and cultural experiences for all ages. Visitors can enjoy hands-on arts experiences, cultural workshops and family activities, all taking place in the Council Building, 2 High Street, Perth.

Adding to the festivities, Scottish Ballet will lead interactive movement sessions, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities to join in the fun.

Provost of Perth and Kinross, Xander McDade said: "We're delighted to welcome the community to celebrate the year of the Horse here in Perth.

"This celebration, organised by Perth's Chinese Association, is a wonderful opportunity for families, residents and visitors to come together, enjoy vibrant cultural traditions and experience the energy and creativity that Chinese New Year brings.

"We look forward to another fantastic afternoon of colour, dance, and celebration in the heart of our city."
