European Pipe Band Championships and the City of Perth Salute - Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June 2026

The European Pipe Band Championships and the City of Perth Salute will take place on the North Inch, Perth on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June 2026. Both events are part of our Twin Cities Celebration weekend where Perth will celebrate significant twinning anniversaries this year.

On Saturday, the European Pipe Band Championships will bring together more than 100 world-class pipe bands for a full day of competition, colour and unforgettable sound.

To round off a spectacular piping weekend, the City of Perth Salute starts on Sunday 28 June at midday with a parade leaving Thimblerow Car Park making its way to the North Inch Arena, where performances from massed pipe bands and specially-invited acts will entertain the crowds until 4pm.

Around the arena, the Salute Fringe adds to the day with military vehicles, food and drinks stalls, creating a lively, family‑friendly event with plenty to see and do. To facilitate both events, there will be temporary changes to road access and parking over the weekend.

Road closures

The following road closures, alongside parking restrictions, will be in place from midnight on Saturday 27 June 2026:

  • Rose Terrace
  • Barossa Place

Stormont Street and Barossa Street will stay open but will be affected, with no access from Barossa Place.

Local diversions will be in place. Pedestrian thoroughfare and emergency access will be maintained. Road closures are expected to be lifted by 7pm on Sunday 28 June, once all the infrastructure is cleared.

On Sunday, a rolling road closure will be in place for the City of Perth Salute parade from midday until 1pm. The parade will leave Thimblerow Car Park and will follow a route via Old High Street, High Street, Tay Street, Charlotte Street, Atholl Street, and Rose Terrace before arriving on the North Inch Arena.
