Pubs across Perth and Kinross will be able to open later for Scotland and other Home Nation matches during this summer's World Cup.
Perth and Kinross Licensing Board has agreed in principle to grant a general extension of licensed hours for all matches featuring the Home Nations: Scotland, England and, if they qualify, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Under this arrangement, licensed premises across Perth and Kinross with an on sales facility will be allowed to remain open until 30 minutes after the final whistle of each Home Nation match. The extension applies to indoor areas only.
Premises wishing to take advantage of the extended hours will be asked to notify the Licensing Board of their intention to show the games.
The World Cup is being held in the US, Canada and Mexico, with time zones at least five hours behind the UK.
Convenor of Perth and Kinross Council's Licensing Board Councillor Peter Barrett said: "We are all extremely excited to see Scotland play in a World Cup for the first time in 28 years.
"This decision will allow our premises to stay open so fans can enjoy watching Scotland, or other Home Nations, in their favourite pub.
"This will be a historic occasion and I hope this decision will deliver a real boost to our night-time economy."
Further details, including notification procedures for premises, will be issued directly to licence holders.
