Submitting an application

Help and guidance on how to submit an application.

Submit applications online

Who can submit an application?

You have the choice to make the application yourself or to appoint an agent (for instance, a planning consultant, an architect, a solicitor, or a builder) to prepare their proposals and make the application. More advice can be found in our Who to employ guide (PDF) [134KB] . You can search for planning consultants on the RTPI website and registered architects on the Architects' Register.

Payments can be made online via ePlanning when you submit your application, by using our online payment system or by credit/debit card (Customer Service Centre, telephone 01738 475000). We no longer accept cheques.

When you submit an application

When you submit an application, the information will be published on the Council's website. In order to comply with the General Data Protection Regulations, personal information such as signatures, personal telephone and email details, will be removed before publication. Where appropriate, other "sensitive" personal information within documents will also be removed prior to publishing online. When provided, the applicant's home address will also be published on the website. In certain circumstances, it may be possible to remove this information once a decision on the application has been made. Please contact the Council with any requests for this to be done.

What happens if I submit an application but don't need planning permission?

If you apply for planning permission but don't actually need it because your development is 'permitted development', we will change your planning application to one for a Certificate of Lawful Use or Development and refund any fee overpayment.  This certificate will give formal confirmation that your development complies with legislation and does not need planning permission.

When corresponding with us by email, please ensure that you add our generic email address DevelopmentManagement@pkc.gov.uk and planningvalidupdates@pkc.gov.uk to your email contacts to avoid our subsequent messages being directed to your spam box.
