Our responsibilities to you

Like all other authorities and Councils, Perth and Kinross Council has many responsibilities towards children and young people who are looked after.

The Children (Scotland) Act 1995 and the more recent Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 (parts 10 and 11) set out our responsibilities to you which are to:

• provide you (if you are looked after) with support and guidance to prepare you for the time when you are no longer looked after.
• provide you with support and guidance when you have left the care system and when you live more independently. This support is aimed at helping you manage all aspects of your independent life and will be available to you from 16 -26 years of age.
• we also have a responsibility to help you financially towards expenses connected with your education or training.
