Work on Phase 2 options appraisals began in August 2018 in relation to the following schools:

  • Cleish Primary School
  • Grandtully Primary School
  • Logierait Primary School
  • Pitlochry High School (Secondary); and
  • Ruthvenfield Primary School.

Between October-December 2018 community events were held to give local communities the opportunity to share their feedback on the options being considered for three of the Phase 2 schools. The collated feedback can be viewed below.

Meanwhile high level feasibility studies were undertaken to assess options for improving Cleish Primary School & Ruthvenfield Primary School.

Update from March Lifelong Learning Committee

On 27 March the Council's Lifelong Learning Committee considered a report on Phase 2.

The committee report (PDF, 309 KB) provided an update on the current position for each of the Phase 2 options appraisals. Proposals were also put forward for Grandtully Primary School, Logierait Primary School and Pitlochry High School (Secondary).

The following actions were approved by Lifelong Learning Committee:

  • Further detailed analysis will be carried out for improving the condition and suitability of Cleish Primary School. Findings will be reported to a future committee.
  • Education provision at Grandtully Primary School will continue due to an increase in pupil numbers.
  • A feasibility study will be undertaken to establish whether Early Learning & Childcare (ELC) can be delivered from Logierait Primary School. Consultations with potential parents/carers of children who might attend will take place to establish the sustainability of demand. Findings will be reported to a future committee.
  • The option of closure has been removed for Pitlochry High School (Secondary). Over the next few months models for senior phase education (S4, S5 and S6) in Highland Perthshire will be developed for consideration. It is proposed that staff, pupils and parents will be engaged in this process. The findings of this work will be reported to a future committee.
  • Further detailed analysis will be carried out for improving the condition of Ruthvenfield Primary School. Additionally, detailed analysis of housebuilding in the Ruthvenfield Primary School catchment area will be considered in relation to future plans for the school. The findings of this work will be reported to a future committee.
