Play areas

Our aim is to provide children with a stimulating play environment in an attractively landscaped setting that's fun to use and pleasant to look at.

There are 147 equipped play areas throughout Perth and Kinross which young people can safely access to enjoy a range of active and imaginative play equipment and where parents can meet one another.  Use our map to find your nearest play area.

Play areas are typically designed for children aged 4 to 14, with the equipment grouped together by age: 4 to 8 and 8 to 14 within the wider playing area.  Seating is provided in all parks while some also have picnic benches.

Improving play areas

Throughout our programme of play area improvements, we work alongside interested communities to create play areas which are best suited to all.  You can view some case studies on our Play area improvements page.  Public consultations for play areas which we're currently working on, can be found at the PKC Consultation Hub.

If you find that there's interest and enthusiasm in your community for a new or improved play area, we have the tools and experience to support you.  Please contact us at communitygreenspace@pkc.gov.uk

Maintenance of play areas

The safety of equipment in play areas are checked and playgrounds cleaned on a regular basis to ensure play areas are safe, well maintained and pleasant to use.  If you notice something wrong or becoming unsafe, please report it here.
