The Perth and Kinross Waste Management Plan (PDF, 2 MB) for the period 2010 to 2025 was developed by the Council to provide clear strategic direction for municipal waste management in Perth & Kinross. A public consultation exercise was undertaken to gather views on the Draft Perth and Kinross Waste Management Plan which has been produced by the Council. The WMP Consultation Reponses (PDF, 204 KB) received during the consultation period are available to view.
Strategic Environmental Assessment
As part of developing a new Perth & Kinross Council Waste Management Plan, a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) has been undertaken in parallel to the Plan.
SEA is a process to ensure that significant environmental effects arising from policies, plans and programmes are identified, assessed, mitigated, communicated to decision-makers, monitored and that opportunities for public involvement are provided. The SEA process involves three specific stages, screening, scoping and the environment report. The Waste Management Plan has undergone the screening and scoping stage and an Environment Report has now been produced.
The Environmental Report identifies and evaluates the significant environmental effects that are likely to result from the implementation of the Waste Management Plan. It identifies any reasonable alternatives and seeks to minimise or mitigate for any potential effects on the environment and enhance any positive environmental effects.
The Environment Report has been sent to the Scottish Government's SEA Gateway to allow the consulting authorities (Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Natural Heritage and Historic Scotland) to view the Report.
A copy of the full SEA Environment Report (PDF, 739 KB) and Non-technical Summary (PDF, 146 KB) are available.
