Details

Purpose

To update Elected Members on the launch of the new Perth City and Towns website, a digital platform supporting local businesses, tourism and economic growth.

Briefing Information

A new Perth City and Towns website has been launched as the Council's primary destination platform, promoting the area to residents, visitors and investors and acting as the main online gateway to Perth and Kinross.

The site has been redeveloped to modernise the Council's digital offer, address limitations of the previous platform, and respond to changing user expectations, where people increasingly plan visits, shopping and experiences online.

It provides a more dynamic, accessible and business-led platform, helping ensure information is current, visible and easy to navigate. The website plays a vital role in supporting the visitor economy, encouraging footfall and helping people discover everything the area has to offer:

  • supports the visitor economy by increasing footfall, dwell time and visitor spend

  • features over 500 businesses in a free, self-managed directory

  • includes a self-service events section creating a dynamic 'what's on' offer

  • provides itineraries, blogs and visitor information to inspire trips

  • introduces an AI assistant to help users plan visits

  • improves online visibility through enhanced search and structured content

  • promoted through social media and a mailing list of over 24,000 subscribers

Elected Members are asked to note the launch, promote the platform locally, and encourage businesses and organisations to register and participate.
