Training needs can also be identified through supervision, or through observations of practice and through the medical/care needs of the residents within the care home so that we can provide highest level of care.

There is a training calendar on eric (our internal computer network). Staff can identify anything they would like to do and ask their Line Manager to put them forward for the course.

There is also online training that all staff are expected to work their way through, on an annual basis.

Telecare

At Dalweem we use a call system for residents to alert us for assistance, we are also starting to look at other forms of Technology Enabled Care (TEC). TEC is a term that covers a range of devices and services that harness developing technology to enable people to live with greater independence and safety. We now have security cameras installed on all emergency exits, with a monitoring system in our main office. This system allows us to identify if someone leaves the care home, and also allows us to monitor who is coming in and out of the building.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will I be able to keep my own GP?

A:  The residents in Dalweem are covered for health care by our local health practice, Aberfeldy Health Centre.  Dependant on where you are relocating from, it might not be possible for you to keep the GP/surgery that you were registered with, but if this is possible, we will encourage you to do this.

Q: Can I go on holiday?

A:  Should a resident wish to have a holiday with family or friends, their accommodation at Dalweem will be held for a period to be negotiated.

Q: What happens if I am admitted to hospital?

A:  Should a resident be admitted to hospital, their accommodation is held for a minimum period of six weeks or longer at the discretion of the Unit Manager.  There will then be another assessment carried out by the manager or depute manager to ascertain if we can still meet the resident's needs.  This is part of our process and ensures that you receive the best care possible.
