An amendment to warrant is required when it is proposed to make changes to the design and/or specification for which building warrant was approved. Please note that a new application for warrant rather than an amendment is required if the proposal is to significantly change the development e.g. a new house type.
Applying for an amendment to warrant
Applications can be submitted electronically through the Scottish Government portal
Alternatively, download our Amendment to Warrant application form 2019 (PDF) [235KB] - the form includes details of where to send your application.
As well as completing a form, an amendment to warrant application must include the following:
- The appropriate fee
- Plans and specifications - For paper applications we require two sets of revised plans (highlighting the changes) along with a revised specification.
- Certification update - If your Building Warrant included an SER structural certificate, you will require confirmation from the engineer that the certificate still applies.
What happens after submission?
- The application will be registered and you will be notified accordingly with the reference number.
- The application will be assessed and if required you will be notified of any issues to be resolved.
- You will be given the opportunity to resolve the objections.
- Once resolved the amendment will be issued together with a revised Construction Compliance & Notification Plan (where appropriate).
- You must wait for approval before implementing the changes on site.
