Community Greenspace - Working together to maintain, improve and promote our shared spaces for all to enjoy.

The Community Greenspace Team

The Community Greenspace Team is divided into 3 sections: Communities, Policy & Projects and Infrastructure

  • The Communities Team promotes and advises on the use of our parks and greenspaces and works with and supports community groups and volunteers. The team includes the Greenspace Rangers who are based around the area as well as a Senior Community Capacity Builder and an Environmental Initiatives Officer.  Officers coordinating events  and the North Inch Golf Course are also part of this team.
  • The Infrastructure Team looks after parks and countryside assets, responds to emergency issues like fallen trees and flooding, and sets schedules for grounds maintenance carried out by Direct Services. They also manage contracts for activities such as verge cutting, street weed control, tree care, and play area inspections and repairs.

    The team assist other departments, arranging works related to landscaping with approved contractors.

    At the Westbank depot, operational teams grow native trees and shrubs for planting at PKC sites, helping to deliver the Council's Climate Change Action Plan. They also inspect, repair, and build timber footbridges and other structures in our parks and open spaces.

  • Policy and Projects Team
    The Projects Team includes qualified landscape architects who design and manage improvements to play areas, countryside parks, and other PKC greenspaces. Their aim is to create spaces that are welcoming, attractive, engaging, and healthy for communities and visitors, while also improving habitats for wildlife.

    The Policy Team develops policies to explain what we do and why. They handle obstructions to public access, queries about the Core Path network and deal with other access-related issues.  The Policy Team includes a Greenspace Coordinator, a Greenspace Assistant Policy Officer, a Tree and Woodland Officer, and a Community Food Growing Strategy Officer.

  • The Bereavement Services Team are responsible for the management, regulation and control of burial grounds,  memorial safety & Crematoria in Perth & Kinross. We provide a quality and sensitive burial and cremation service, and offer advice and guidance on a wide range of bereavement issues. Bereavement Services has experienced, professional staff that are sympathetic to the needs of the bereaved.
