The Friends Unlimited Network (FUN)
Description | FUN provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities to meet new people, giving them the opportunity to develop friendships and lasting relationships. In turn the project offers the chance for individual to fulfil their objectives of building confidence, happiness and natural connections. The project provides an accessible friendship and relationship network to enable people with learning disabilities to come together and meet others who share similar interested through a range of social activities and regular events in a safe, friendly and supportive environment. At the moment, FUN has in excess of 50 active members who take part in regular events through a calendar of activities such as bowling, discos, pub nights, pool nights, craft sessions, workshops and bingo. In addition, FUN supports the development of natural relationships and active social lives by fostering a culture of acceptance, friendship and peer support in order to safeguard members whilst increasing opportunities to connect with other people. FUN asks that everyone completes a registration form (PDF, 224 KB) and is happy to follow the FUN membership agreement (PDF, 249 KB), there is no membership fee and most activities are paid for when you attend.
