Details
Purpose
To share an update on the impact of high winds in Perth and Kinross overnight and into this morning.
Briefing Information
High winds were experienced across much of Perth and Kinross overnight and into the early hours of this morning.
While no roads were closed a tree fell on the A94 near Perth Airport and reports were received of a tree down near to the railway bridge on Old Edinburgh Road in Bridge of Earn. Both roads remained open and passable throughout.
Other reports have also been received of trees and branches down in green spaces. Residents are encouraged to report similar issues via MyPKC (opens new window) or to call 01738 476476 if there is an immediate safety issue.
Perth Leisure Pool
Live Active Leisure have also had to close Perth Leisure Pool temporarily due to damage to the building caused by the strong winds. Details about the extent of the damage and timescales for repair are not yet known as assessments have to wait until the wind dies down enough for safe access.
They have posted information on their website and social media channels to advise that: "Unfortunately, Perth Leisure Pool has had to close temporarily due to some damage caused by last night's strong wind. We'll be assessing this as soon as it safe to do so and we'll post an update on our Facebook page and website as soon as we know when the venue can reopen. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
