Purpose
This Briefing Note provides members with an update on arrangements for this year's Christmas Lights Switch-On in Perth city.
Briefing Information
The Christmas Lights Switch-On will take place in Perth on 22 November 2025.
Local and national music acts and other performers will take to the stage and streets of Perth city centre for the event which is taking place for the first time since 2023. Last year's event had to be cancelled because of poor weather.
The full bill for this year's event is currently being finalised but this year's event will be bigger than ever, with additional street activities taking place.
Entertainment will be focused on High Street, Tay Street, King Edward Street, St John Street, George Street and Mill Street.
The additional entertainment is being put in place because, due to the ongoing closure of Scott Street, it is not possible to safely hold a parade this year.
Alternative routes were considered but with the volume of people expected in the city on Saturday 22 November 2025 there is no safe area for the parade to disperse in either Mill Street or High Street.
A full list of road closures has been prepared, and these will be shared with the public and businesses ahead of the event.
