Details

Purpose

This Briefing Note is being issued to advise elected members regarding short-term disruption to local bus services in the Strathallan ward as a result of roadworks on Orchil/Church Road in Auchterarder.

Briefing Information

Road resurfacing works on the minor Orchil/Church Road in Auchterarder from the A823 Gleneagles roundabout to near Orchil Crescent began on Thursday 11 August 2022 (and not Wednesday 10 August as previously advised).

These works require a road closure and diversion being put in place until Wednesday 17 August. The road will be fully closed for most of the works period, however, once the works from the A823 junction to Easthill Road junction are completed, which is expected to be on Saturday 13 August, this part of Orchil Road and the Easthill Road junction will be reopened to traffic.

The diversion route during the full road closure is via A823 Gleneagles roundabout to Bishops Bridge, A822 Bishops Bridge to Muthill, Station Road Muthill to C457 Muthill, C457 Muthill to C458 at Knappilands Junction, C458 to Castleton Road, Castleton Road to A824 Townhead, and A824 to Orchil Road.

As a result, there will be some impact on local bus services 17, 19 and 20 between Auchterarder, Gleneagles Hotel, Blackford, Greenloaning, and Stirling during the works period.

On 12 and 13 August, a shuttle bus will operate to assist residents and workers travelling beyond Auchterarder to Gleneagles Hotel, Blackford and Stirling. Information regarding the shuttle bus service for these days has been provided at local bus stops, on the buses themselves and within the of this website.

On 14, 15 and 16 August, as the upper part of Orchil/Church Road from the A823 roundabout to the Easthill Road junction will be open, local bus services will operate as normal, albeit with a short diversion to their route.

Social media posts regarding the alterations to bus services have appeared on the Council's corporate Twitter and Facebook channels as well as the PTU's Twitter feed. In addition, local community councils in the area have been asked to share the information through their own channels.
