Details

Purpose

This Briefing Note is being issued in response to a question raised by Councillor Noah Khogali at a meeting of Perth & Kinross Council on November 9 regarding properties where only general waste is collected.

Briefing Information

We collect refuse from 72,000 households across Perth and Kinross every week.
Unfortunately, there are 400 (approximately 0.5%) of these where there is no access to collect recycling and only general waste collections are made because of health and safety concerns such as dangerous corners that make lorries cannot negotiate safely.

Most households are aware there are only general waste collections and the reasons for this. However, when we do receive enquiries - most commonly where someone has moved to a house where there are only general waste collections - we explain the situation to them.

We are keen to assist residents and there are recycling points across Perth and Kinross where plastic, glass, paper and other recyclable items can be taken, as well as larger recycling centres where these items are accepted.
