Briefing Information
For information, an IMT was held this morning at 11am involving a number of officers from front line services across the Council in preparation for a forecasted weather event early next week.
The MET Office has not declared this a named storm.
There is a yellow weather warning for rain from 6pm on February 4 until 9pm February 5 (UK weather warnings - Met Office) however, having reviewed the forecast we do not currently expect there will be any issues over the weekend into Monday. The warning currently covers the western edge of Perth and Kinross and so, at this time, we will not be closing flood gates.
We expect the impact of the weather to hit Perth and Kinross early on Tuesday morning as the resulting rainfall/surface water flows into the River Tay. Another IMT is scheduled for 11am on Monday morning to assess conditions and take any necessary actions to prepare for Tuesday. We expect to close the flood gates on Monday.
Messages will be sent out over the Council's social media channels to advise residents of the upcoming forecast and to take any necessary precautions to protect their properties.
Officers will continue to monitor conditions over the weekend and should the forecast change, be ready to respond.
