Purpose
This briefing note provides Elected Members with information on Perth and Kinross residents recognised in the King's Birthday Honours List.
Briefing Information
Congratulations to Strathallan Councillor Steven Carr who was awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours for services to Children in Ukraine and support to the Ukrainian Community in Scotland.
Councillor Carr founded the Dnipro Kids charity in 2005 to help children in Ukrainian orphanages.
Others awards include:
- Professor Terence Smith from Inchture, who was given a CBE for services to Disease Research. Professor Smith is a director of St Andrews University's Biomedical Research Centre.
- Jane Spiers, from Perth, chair of the National Theatre of Scotland, was given an OBE for services to culture in Scotland.
- Jillian Ward, from Tibbermore, chair of Genomics England's Participant Panel, was awarded an MBE for services to patients and participants in UK Genomic.
- James Comrie from Crieff, Scout Leader, 5th Perthshire (Crieff) Scout Group was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to Scouting and to the community in Crieff, Perth and Kinross.
- Community volunteer George Lawrie from Kinross also received a BEM for services to the rural community.
- Alistair Phillips-Davies, Chief Executive of SSE Plc received a CBE for services to the Energy Industry and Net Zero.
- The New Zealand Order of Merit was awarded to Ereti Mitchell from Perth for services to United Kingdom-New Zealand relations.
