Details

Purpose

This short briefing is to further update you about any local impact of Storm Bert.

Briefing Information

A briefing issued this morning informed you that a Yellow flood alert was in place for Tayside, and flood warnings had been issued for Carse of Lennoch to Lochlane, Crieff to Innerpeffray, and Innerpeffray to Bridge of Earn.

Only one flood warning remains in place currently - Innerpeffray to Bridge of Earn. The Yellow alert for Tayside remains in place.

Our staff have visited a number of properties (mostly farms) between Comrie and Crieff (Carse of Lennoch to Lochlane) that are close to the water. There are no issues to report, and nobody has asked for any support at this time.

The Innerpeffrey to Bridge of Earn section is mostly agricultural land. Staff have spoken to a number of farms close to the river. The watercourse that flows through Forteviot Village (Water of May) is quite high, however local people are not concerned as their properties sit a fair way higher than the water.

No support is required at this time. Remaining properties close to the water between Forteviot and Bridge of Earn are either on high ground or have flood mitigation in place with earthworks.

The area is prone to regular flooding and local people are not concerned and feel that this is normal for the time of year. We have still had no reports of any flooding so far. All watercourses continue to being monitored and there are no immediate concerns at this time.

Senior staff from all services will continue regular dialogue about the situation. All services remain ready to respond to any disruption
