Details

Purpose

These briefing note provides an update the impact of Storm Éowyn on Friday January 24.

Briefing Information

Storm Éowyn is continuing to affect roads and services across Scotland.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is reporting a significant number of power cuts across Tayside, as well as in other parts of Scotland.

This means they are unable to provide full details of affected areas at this time.

We are working with Community Resilience Groups to identify areas without power so welfare checks can be carried out on vulnerable residents.

Messaging has gone out on social media advising residents to report power cuts.

It is not yet known how long it will take SSEN to restore power.

We will continue to monitor the situation over the weekend and are on stand-by to provide additional support to affected residents as and when necessary.

Elsewhere in Perth and Kinross a number of trees have fallen as a result of the storm and crews are working to clear these when it is safe for them to do so.

Updates on road closures are being shared on our Facebook page and website.

Trees have fallen onto the roofs of two properties in Perth and we are sourcing alternative accommodation for residents where necessary.

Refuse collections were suspended on Friday but will resume on Saturday.  Recycling centres will also reopen.

The Chinese New Year celebrations due to take place in Perth tomorrow will still go ahead but may be moved fully indoors if required.

The NFU protest is still scheduled to take place on Saturday in Perth.
